Warba appoints Abdullah Al-Lanqawi as Chief Treasury Officer

KUWAIT, August 2022:

Warba Bank announced appointing Mr. Abdullah Al-Lanqawi as Chief Treasury Officer, after obtaining the approval of the Central Bank of Kuwait, stressing that his appointment comes within the Bank’s strategic plan to empower skilled citizens, which will enhance the Kuwaitization strategy of the Bank.



In its press statement, the Bank stated that appointing Al-Lanqawi reflects the Bank's confidence in Kuwaiti employees and that empowering them in leadership positions has future impact on supporting local economy, and preparing Kuwaiti leaders who aim to develop local economy, and present it in best image regionally and internationally.



The bank emphasized that attracting successful Kuwaiti leaders comes within the Bank's annual strategy, as Mr. Abdullah Al-Lanqawi holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Maastricht Business School and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Kuwait University. In addition, he holds many professional certificates, among which the most important is the Certified Investment Manager (CIM), the Investment Strategies and Portfolio Management (ISPM) from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, the Program for Leadership Development (PLD) from Harvard Business School, and the Financial Trading Certification from the Financial Markets Association (ACI).



Al-Lanqawi started his career in a local bank as a broker and improved his career to become the General Manager of the Treasury. He also served as a member of the board of directors of an investment company in Saudi Arabia. His expertise is in asset and liability management, investments, treasury sales and financial derivatives.
