As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting impactful educational and community initiatives, Warba Bank announced its sponsorship of the inaugural edition of the “Mafaz” competition, organized in partnership between the General Secretariat of Awqaf and the Ministry of Education under the theme "Waqf, Awareness and Responsibility." The initiative aims to revive, instill and strengthen the concept of Waqf and its role in community development among students from an early age.
Warba Bank’s sponsorship reflects its strategy of supporting programs that promote human values and social responsibility, solidarity and national identity by investing in youth and providing a motivating environment for leadership and creativity.
On this occasion, Mr. Anwar Bader Al-Ghaith, Deputy CEO of Support Services and Treasury at Warba Bank, said: "Our sponsorship of the Mafaz competition stems from our firm belief in the role of education in building a conscious and responsible society. We believe that embedding the values of Waqf and philanthropy in students’ minds contributes to shaping a generation driven by generosity and initiative; values that reflect Warba Bank’s own approach to community service and sustainable development."
He added that Mafaz is more than just a competition; it is a developmental platform that encourages creativity and teamwork and fosters leadership and social awareness among students.
"We at Warba Bank are proud to be part of such a purposeful initiative that aligns with our vision of supporting education, empowering future generations and reinforcing Kuwaiti identity," he said.
He went on to say that the Mafaz competition serves as an inspiring model that combines education, religion and social responsibility, which are central to Warba Bank’s mission of building a generation that understands and embodies the importance of giving and community engagement.
"At Warba Bank, we believe that teaching students about Waqf and volunteering, and encouraging them to explore, think and innovate, is a true investment in future leaders who will carry the values of collaboration and actively contribute to their communities and their country, Kuwait," he said.
"The real investment lies in our youth. They are the drivers of the nation and the source of its prosperity. Instilling a sense of responsibility, enhancing knowledge and promoting leadership and national belonging are what enable our children to raise Kuwait’s flag high and continue its path of progress with confidence and creativity. We translate this belief into action by supporting initiatives that develop youth capabilities and instill the values we hold dear," he concluded.
Through this sponsorship, Warba Bank reaffirms its commitment to supporting community initiatives that combine Islamic values, national identity, education and knowledge, while further solidifying its role as a national banking institution dedicated to making a positive impact on society.
The Mafaz competition is an educational initiative designed to raise student awareness of Waqf, charitable giving, and volunteerism in Kuwaiti society. It invites students aged 11–17 from intermediate and secondary schools to deliver short presentations of no more than five minutes, highlighting the role and impact of Waqf on community development in a way that reflects their understanding of human values and social responsibility.
The competition witnessed significant participation from schools in the Capital Educational Area, with 52 schools qualifying for the final round, 25 from the secondary level (9 boys’ schools and 16 girls’ schools) and 27 from the intermediate level (9 boys’ schools and 18 girls’ schools). The secondary stage finals were held at Ishbiliya Primary School for Girls in Kaifan, while Fahad Al-Askar Primary School for Boys hosted the intermediate stage finals.
