KUWAIT, October 2024:

Warba Bank announced its participation in the annual conference of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which will be held from October 21-26 in the US capital Washington, and Warba Bank will participate with a high-level delegation headed by Vice Chairman Bader Khaled Al-Shalfan.

This participation comes as part of the Bank's management's keenness to participate in regional and international events that attract a distinguished presence of officials and political and economic leaders in the region and the world in order to discuss ways of joint cooperation and learn more experiences.

Commenting on the Bank’s participation in this conference, Vice Chairman Bader Khaled Al-Shalfan said: “Due to the development of Warba Bank in the recent period, especially with regard to developing its investment and financing portfolio, and in light of the global trend towards the Islamic banking sector, which proved its remarkable success, Warba Bank believes that participating in this important international conference is an opportunity to gain more experience and also to get to know potential international strategic partners who will contribute to establishing the distinguished position that the Bank aspires to occupy in the Islamic banking sector.”

The Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund normally meet once a year to discuss the work of their respective institutions. The Annual Meetings, which are generally held in the fall, are held in Washington for two consecutive years and in a member country for the third year.

The Annual Meetings include meetings of the Development Committee, the International Monetary and Financial Committee, the Group of Ten (G 10), the Group of Twenty-Four (G 24), and several other groups of members. At the conclusion of their meetings, the Development Committee and the International Monetary and Financial Committee, as well as several other groups, issue their respective statements. During the Annual Meetings, the Governors make decisions on how to address current international monetary issues and adopt relevant resolutions.

The IMF conference provides a platform for high-level policy dialogue among high-level decision-makers, including central banks governors and ministers, regulators and standard-setters in conventional and Islamic finance, CEOs of major private and public financial institutions, and academics, to formulate a vision for the continued growth of the financial sector and set a framework for continued action to achieve positive outcomes and overcome challenges.
