As part of its commitment to social responsibility and promoting the values of giving during the Holy Month of Ramadan, Warba Bank launched the "Basma" campaign in partnership with Dabdoob, a leading toy platform, to bring joy and happiness to orphans during Eid Al-Fitr. The campaign encourages Warba Bank VISA cardholders to use their cards for purchases throughout Ramadan, with 10% of the purchase value donated by the bank to buy Eid gifts for orphans, at no additional cost to customers.
Speaking about the campaign, Mr. Muhannad Issa Burhama, Director of Product Development and Customer Segments at Warba Bank, said: "Ramadan is a month of generosity and giving, a time when people actively engage in charitable acts such as providing Iftar meals and food baskets to those in need. At Warba Bank, we wanted to introduce a different initiative this year, one that goes beyond fulfilling basic needs and brings joy to children who may not have anyone to surprise them with a gift on Eid Al-Fitr. The ‘Basma’ campaign is designed to spread happiness in a unique way."
Burhama added that spending in supermarkets and cooperatives naturally increases during Ramadan, as individuals and families purchase larger quantities of daily necessities. This observation inspired the "Basma" campaign, linking everyday shopping with an effortless way to give back.
He explained: "The more you shop, the more you contribute to bringing joy to orphans. This year, instead of focusing solely on providing food, we decided to complement the spirit of giving with something that embodies the joy of Eid: Surprising children with gifts. Giving is not just about meeting needs; it's about creating happy memories. Imagine a child waking up on Eid morning to find a new gift waiting for them and knowing that someone thought of them and wanted to make them happy.”
The "Basma" campaign is exclusive to Warba Bank VISA cardholders, including VISA Signature, VISA Platinum, and VISA Prepaid cards. Customers simply use their VISA cards for everyday purchases, and Warba Bank donates 10% of the transaction value towards buying Eid gifts for orphans. There’s no additional cost to customers as all gift costs are fully covered by Warba Bank, and no fees are deducted from customers' accounts. Customers contribute by simply using their cards for daily purchases.
The campaign extends from March 1, 2025 to March 31, 2025 and gifts will be distributed in the final days of Ramadan, ensuring children receive their gifts in time for Eid. To enhance customer engagement, Warba Bank sends weekly alerts updating participants on the campaign’s impact, fostering an emotional connection between them and this meaningful initiative.
